Stress and strain play an important role in ceramics processing in general. When we combine multiple materials in order to create a new function, an interface and/or surface will be produced resulting in stress and strain that must be understood. We have proposed and organized a special symposium session to discuss stress and strain which appears in the various ceramic fields within the 23rd Fall Meeting of The Ceramic Society of Japan. In this presentation, we will explain the importance of stress and strain in ceramic processing.
