Animals alter their behavior in order to respond to the demands of changing environments. Society and crowd are one of the dynamic environments. We have investigated the design principle of neuronal mechanisms for social adaptation in animals, by focusing on how animals select their behavior depending on previous social interactions or social experiments. Insect pheromone behaviors provide a good model system to elucidate the mechanisms of social adaptation. We are aiming at constructing a multi-scale model combining our results obtained throughout ourstudies about the social adaptation mechanisms on various scales.
