For many language teachers, the tasks of rectifying students’ essays and assessing the degree of improvement in foreign language composition require a lot of time and effort. It has been verified that the peer review method helps students to develop logical thinking skills and provide insight into their own writings. However, it is rather demanding for students to give feedback to other’s writings, especially for those with inefficient comprehension level of that language. In this study, we introduce a new instructional method called “pict-net abstraction” as a helping aid for composition education, which can also be useful even in multi-lingual environment.
