Pt thin films were deposited
on stepped SrTiO3(100), TiO2(100), and Al2O3(11-20) substrates by pulsed laser deposition. For all the
substrates used in this study, Pt grain sizes were larger along the step edges than on the terrace. This effect of
step edges was observed for the samples deposited at 700oC, but not at 400oC.
