This article introduces a control experiment, which is started in a part of a course in the
Department of Control and Systems Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology from last year. We set
as a goal telling the following three messages: (1) to design controllers referring to the open-loop transfer
function, (2) to understand performance limitations, and (3) to design a control system including two degrees-
of-freedom controller design. The main objective of this article is to show what kind of lecture materials we
are taking in order to reach the goal. Finally, we discuss \ideal testbed" for control experiments based on
the impression obtained through this experiment.
