Recently, origami structure has attracted worldwide attention because it can be applied in many engineering applications for buildings, bridges, and satellites. Origami structure can be made by many ways such as using a 3D printer because it offers good reproducibility, time saving, and capability of applying different materials. In the present work, we used ABS plastic to manufacture origami shaped structure by a 3D printer, and conducted mechanical tests. Firstly, we explored the setting parameters of the 3D printer by adopting design of experiments method to examine the important parameter for quality of structures: roughness and density. Then, from the compressive mechanical tests, we found that the structures showed different compressive performance and failure modes, indicating the significant effect of the 3D printing parameters.
